HORIZON BRADCO ACQUIRES 5 STAR REFRIGERATION & AIR CONDITIONING, INC.

Schenectady, New York (January 20, 2017) – Horizon Bradco has acquired 5 Star Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Inc. based in Brooksville, Florida. 5 Star Refrigeration is a leading refrigeration and HVAC service, equipment and installation provider to the area’s leading supermarkets and convenience stores.

HORIZON BRADCO ACQUIRES NORTHEASTERN REFRIGERATION AND INSULATION

Schenectady, New York (June 1, 2016) – Horizon Bradco has acquired Northeastern Refrigeration and Insulation Inc. Based in East Windsor, CT, Northeastern Refrigeration is an established provider of refrigeration and HVAC installation and service to the area’s top supermarkets, convenience stores and wholesale and retail food distribution companies.

This strategic acquisition will be integrated into Horizon Bradco’s Allied Mechanical Services (AMS) division. AMS, based in Wallingford, CT, is a leading refrigeration and HVAC installation and service repair company serving most of Southern New England and Eastern New York. The Northeastern refrigeration investment follows other Horizon Bradco acquisitions including Allied Mechanical Services and Burke Food Equipment in 2015 and Foley & Wallace in 2014.

Northeastern Refrigeration operations will move to the AMS Wallingford, CT facility. AMS is hiring all NEI employees.

HORIZON BRADCO ACQUIRES ALLIED MECHANICAL SERVICES, LLC 
AND NEW ENGLAND CONTROLS, LLC

Schenectady, New York (July 1, 2015) – Horizon Bradco has acquired New England based Allied Mechanical Services, LLC (AMS) and New England Controls, LLC (NEC).  Based in Wallingford, CT, AMS is a leading provider of refrigeration and HVAC installation, repair services and maintenance contracts to the area’s top supermarkets and retail food chains. NEC provides specialty installation of low-voltage energy management solutions to much of the same customer base.

This strategic acquisition adds approximately 35 licensed refrigeration mechanics covering most of Southern New England and Eastern New York to the team of more than 70 food equipment technicians employed by Horizon Bradco.  In addition to adding commercial refrigeration solutions to its suite of services, the acquisition also provides Horizon Bradco with a physical location in the state of Connecticut. The investment follows other recent acquisitions including Burke Food Equipment in South Carolina last month and Foley & Wallace in Massachusetts in January 2014.

Pompano Beach, FL (June 25, 2014) – Horizon Bradco has expanded with the opening of a 10,000 square foot facility in Pompano Beach, Florida. This location, which is the third for the company, includes both an office space and a warehouse with parts department. There are plans to open a state of the art test kitchen and training center in 2015. This facility provides Horizon Bradco the ability to better serve the increasing demand of the Southeast Region.   Read more here.

HORIZON BRADCO ACQUIRES FOLEY & WALLACE ASSOCIATES

Acquisition combines similar business models, equipment lines and customers

Schenectady, New York (January 22, 2014) – Horizon Bradco has acquired Foley & Wallace Associates, bringing together two strategically aligned businesses each with more than 25 years in business to better support the supermarket, meat processing, seafood and baking industries with premium processing equipment and services. The acquisition provides Horizon Bradco with an expanded service network, increased service technician density to better service customers, and new product lines including Marineland lobster tanks and Newly Weds seasonings. HORIZON BRADCO APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR OF SALES 

Schenectady, New York (October 24, 2013) – Horizon Bradco recently announced the appointment of Barry Bergstein as Director of Sales. A 38-year veteran of the foodservice industry, Mr. Bergstein most recently served as Director of Retail Supermarket & C-Store Sales with Power Soak, a Dover Corporation.

“When the chance to join Horizon Bradco arose it was an opportunity that was too good to pass up,” said Bergstein. “I have worked alongside many of the folks at Horizon Bradco through the years, so I knew how professional of an operation they have built. Having watched them grow at such an impressive rate from the outside, I now have the opportunity to contribute to further growth, and I couldn’t be more excited.”

The recent recapitalization of Horizon Bradco through an investment by Hamilton Robinson has set the stage to expand the company’s footprint into new markets, and the addition of Bergstein will support regional and national growth with new and current customers.

Prior to Power Soak, he was the VP of Worldwide Distribution with Power Soak Systems, Inc., COO of CommKitchen.com and VP of Sales & Marketing at BKI Worldwide, part of the Standex Food Service Equipment Group. Mr. Bergstein is HAACP certified.

BAKE-RITE INTERNATIONAL AND HORIZON BRADCO TO MERGE

Transformation backed by infusion of capital and new talent; company to focus on
improved operations, new products and market expansion

Schenectady, New York (September 25, 2013) – Bake-Rite International and its strategic partner, Horizon Bradco, will merge together under the name Horizon Bradco in 2014 to better support the baking, commercial and industrial food industries with premium processing equipment and services. The new company has also drawn major capital from investment firm, Hamilton Robinson Capital Partners.

Along with the merger and investment, the company has named Mark Panozzo as CEO. Panozzo and current managing partners, Brian and Kathy Donovan and Frank Corvino, will expand the company’s footprint into new markets to fuel regional and national growth. Under the current management team and employees, the companies have experienced high growth over the last five years from $8 million to over $20 million with more than 100 employees, operating in 17 states along the East Coast and Southeast.

“These changes bring together the talent, knowledge, and resources needed to transform Horizon Bradco. We are very excited to have Mark join our team and are confident that existing and prospective customers will recognize the benefits brought about by efficiency improvements, new products and expanded markets,” said Kathy Donovan.

The company has already begun implementing changes to complete the merger early 2014. It will retain the Bake-Rite brand to provide its baking equipment solutions and expertise to that specific industry while maintaining the original mission of both companies to provide the best equipment and service to the food preparation industry.

“Brian, Kathy and Frank have created a dynamic company that is ideally positioned for growth with several of its market-leading customers in the supermarket and food service industries,” concluded Panozzo. “Together, along with the employees who have built this company, we intend to take the company to a new level.”

Panozzo will focus on improving logistics and implementing policies and procedures that will lead to more efficient and effective management of the company. He is affiliated with Hamilton Robinson and brings extensive customer-facing leadership experience in the manufacturing sector.

We have recently completed 9 training videos covering the operation and maintenance of various pieces of equipment including BKI and Rotisol Chicken Rotisseries, MIWE Condo Deck Oven, and LBC Proofers and Rack Oven. Our videos are free to customers for training new employees, or to use as a tool for retention of operation and maintenance steps.
